Ohio State University Admissions
The Ohio State University admissions process is fairly competitive. As with most admission programs, high school performance and SAT/ACT scores are given primary consideration. Of additional importance are such factors as the competitiveness of an applicant’s high school, family college enrollment history, cultural or social background, and any particular talents an applicant might possess. Ohio State University requires a high school diploma or GED. The admissions process can be performed online via the University’s website.
Applications to the undergraduate programs are accepted through February 1 for the fall semester, with an application fee of $40. In addition to the application form and fee, students must provide high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores. Applications can be submitted on-line.
Students must have completed college preparatory course work, including four units of English, three units of mathematics with a recommendation of four, two units each of science, social sciences and foreign language, with a recommendation for three of the latter, one unit of a visual or performing art and one additional unit. Students must graduate from high school or hold a GED. Applicants to the regional campuses are considered under less competitive standards.
Graduate students must provide the following for admissions to the graduate school: application fee, transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, and other materials as required by the department. A graduate application has an application fee of $40.
In-state tuition and fees for undergraduate students were $7,479 on the Columbus campus in 2004-2005. Students applying from out of state, graduate students, and students attending regional campuses will have different costs.
